Copyeditor/Public Health Writer

We are looking for a motivated writer/editor with a background in health communication and public health. As a writer, you are comfortable developing material that is conversational, professional, understandable, accessible, and actionable. You enjoy working independently and collaboratively, have experience giving and receiving feedback on content, and have outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.

The writer/editor provides writing and editorial support for the development of high-quality materials and products for various health communications and health promotion projects, initiatives, and programs. You will be working directly with clients, developing, and planning written content for strategic communication and health promotion products and materials. 

The Copyeditor/Public Health Writer responsibilities are:

  • Write, edit, update and develop senior-level communications products across multiple health program areas

  • Review and edit documents, recommending revisions to improve flow, clarity, and consistency

  • Use communication tools and technology to write, edit, and publish program information that is appealing, engaging, and customer friendly

Copyeditor/Public Health Writer  requirements are:

  • This is a part-time remote position. Applicant must have a consistent block of one hour available on Tues, Weds or Thurs during business hours for Blackprint Team meetings

  • Anticipated average workload of 10 hours per month

  • Familiarity with current technologies such as Notion 

  • Good practical experience with word-processing software and spreadsheets٫ particularly MS Office and Google Workspace

  • Strong video conferencing٫ email and instant messaging communication skills such as Zoom and Slack

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ideal candidates will possess specific public health writing experience on topics, such as sexual and reproductive health, behavioral health and criminal justice and health & racial equity

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; additional qualification as MPH or MPA preferred

  • Must submit 2-4 writing samples of previously written public health reports, briefs, press releases and/or journal articles 

Compensation: $40 hour, average 10 hours month
